Entre os dias 25 de junho e 17 de julho, ocorrerá a ativação do trabalho ‘Ao som de Paulo Sérgio’.

The work, first performed in 2017, has as its starting point the existence of several homonyms of Paulo Nazareth, whose given name is Paulo Sérgio da Silva. The artist says that, at various times during his circulation between countries, his identity is questioned: there would be about 177 Paulo Sérgio da Silva accused criminally, and Nazareth, for being a black and indigenous man in the Brazilian context, is constantly asked to prove his identity. Paulo Sérgio is also the name of a Brazilian singer, who had his first album released in 1968, and who had his career during the years of military dictatorship.

In the installation, which takes place in an apartment near Copan, the viewer is invited to enter the universe of Paulo Nazareth and his many namesakes. At the apartment, the visitor will be welcomed by one of Paulo’s namesakes. The meeting with Paulo Sérgio is a possibility to exchange experiences and talk about Nazareth’s work to the sound of Paulo Sérgio, whose nickname was ‘the singer of the masses’.

The activation of the work takes place on the days:
June 25, 26; July 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 [Saturdays and Sundays].
At the following times: 1:30pm – 2:30pm; 3pm – 4pm; 4:30pm – 5:30pm
