UV Estudios e Arte Pará são os curadores convidados para o Pivô Satélite 2023

Created in 2020, the Pivô Satélite platform is a project room within the Pivô’s website. In its first years, its program was conceived by artists and curators invited by the institution, comprising artistic proposals in various formats designed especially for digital media.

The diversity and quality of the proposals that occupied the platform over the last two years led us to consider how to keep this project relevant – and even more experimental. In 2022, instead of independent curators, we invited institutions based in Latin America.

In 2023, Pivô proposes another reformulation of the Pivô Satélite program to extend the reach of the project, bringing in new discussions and partnerships. From a curatorial analysis and consultation with the patrons who act as ambassadors for the project, the relevance of the audiovisual content commissioned over the years has been identified. The impact of this media on the Programme was perceived both in terms of reception and audience engagement, and in the poetic and conceptual conception process of the works, which actively contribute to the contemporary cultural scene and to the emergence of other narratives and imaginaries. The project will have an annual production character, divided into two presentation moments between the first and second semesters.

As curators of the project, we invited two important institutions in the Latin American context: UV Estudios and Arte Pará. With distinct practices, both contribute to the promotion of local experimental practice and the diffusion of art in the Latin American context.

The 4 participating artists will be selected by Pivô and the invited partner institutions – UV Estudios and Arte Pará.

The collaborators of this program will be invited according to criteria that consider the relevance and quality of their artistic research, besides the diversity of identities present in Latin America – of gender, ethnic-racial, regionality, social and cultural context. By consolidating this program, Pivô hopes to gather a consistent and plural group of new active voices in the arts scene at a pressing moment in our history.
