lives and works at Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Mônica Hoff is an artist, curator and researcher. PhD in Visual Arts from Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (2019), with research on artists-run art schools and how artistic methodologies become instituting pedagogies and these into schools/institutions. Currently, she investigates the relations between counterpedagogy, learning and other institutionalities of art. From 2006 to 2014, she coordinated the Bienal do Mercosul’s Educational Program, also acting as assistant curator in the ninth edition of the event, in 2013. Among the projects developed in recent years are: Laboratório de Curadoria, Arte e Educação (2014-19), in partnership with curator Fernanda Albuquerque; Espaço Embarcação (2016-18), co-directed with Kamilla Nunes, which resulted in the projects Oficina Pública de Perguntas, La Grupa and Escola Extraordinária; Corazón Pulmones Hígado (2019-20), an exhibition co-curated with Andrea Pacheco at the Centro de Residencias Artísticas do Matadero Madrid; and Corpo que vibra (2020), a virtual exhibition and investigation into the work of artist Mara Alvares. In 2021 she co-curated with Eva Posas Ni apocalipsis ni paraiso: meditaciones en el umbral, program of the second edition of Materia Abierta, in Mexico City; and acted as guest researcher in the project La Escuela by Venezuelan artist Miguel Braceli. Currently, she is developing the project Pedagogy in Public, in collaboration with the Brazilian artist Fabio Tremonte; and coordinates with Jessica Gogan a group of studies and translation into Spanish of part of the work of Frederico Morais.
